Yours Humanly Announces Three Recipients of Its Children Have the Power to Empower Award

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oct. 9, 2020 - PRLog -- Yours Humanly, a global nonprofit that transforms the lives of children in need around the world by providing access to quality education and equitable resources, has announced three new recipients of its quarterly Children Have the Power to Empower® Award, which recognizes children for their outstanding acts of goodness.

The Children Have the Power to Empower Award showcases "in service to others" in a meaningful way and demonstrates to family, friends, and community that even children have the power to empower when they lend a helping hand and an open heart.

Maya Blake, 9, of Montrose, Colorado, received the award for the outstanding acts of goodness she continues to perform year after year by asking family and friends to donate to others in need in lieu of personal birthday gifts meant for her. Her compassion and selflessness have helped thousands of men, women, and children in communities across Colorado, and those in need in Guatemala.

Renee and Rhea Mendonca, 17-year-old twin sisters of Staten Island, New York, received the award for the outstanding acts of goodness they continue to perform making surprise deliveries of groceries, flowers, and essentials to elderly neighbors who are isolated and unable to leave home during the pandemic. Renee and Rhea have raised tens of thousands of dollars and made more than 1,000 deliveries to elderly friends and neighbors, homeless individuals, and families who have lost loved ones to the coronavirus.

"We commend these young people for their compassion and hard work, and for being the kind of people who think of others before self," says Yours Humanly Founder & CEO Sunny Singh. "They are making a difference in the lives of others and we encourage them to continue to do what they can to ease life's journey for those who struggle."
