Statesman's All-Centex Preps awards event returning in 2020

AUSTIN, Texas - Dec. 3, 2019 - PRLog -- The Austin American-Statesman will host its second annual All-Centex Preps awards event on Monday, June 1, 2020, at the Palmer Events Center. The evening is the culmination of a nine-month recognition program that recognizes the outstanding performances of local high-school athletes. Before family, friends, fans and leaders, the event honors exceptional athletic achievements and also highlights dedication, teamwork and the overcoming of obstacles.

The Statesman All-Centex Preps program recognizes more than 500 all-star athletes in Travis, Hays, Williamson and Bastrop Counties across 20 different sports. The event, which includes a red carpet experience and casual banquet setting, will include a special recognition for the Player of the Year in each sport, male and female athlete of the year, coach of the year, team of the year and other notable awards.

New Orleans Saints quarterback and Super Bowl XLIV Champion and MVP Drew Brees will be the guest speaker at the 2020 Best of All-Centex Preps awards event. Brees will participate in a Q&A session during the event and take photos with the award winners.

Selected All-Centex Preps athletes will enjoy free admission to the awards event. Prior to June 1, the Statesman will send each athlete a letter containing an individualized code and instructions on how to RSVP for the event at statesman.com/preps.

Statesman sports staff makes their selections based on statistics, performance, and input from coaches and athletic directors.

Austin high school athletes and families will find All-Centex designations in the Statesman throughout the year, on statesman.com/preps and the Statesman's social media accounts. The Statesman will also communicate All-Centex designations to student-athletes through mail, email and to their school administration. Students can sign up to receive announcement updates at statesman.com/preps.
