Vancouver Debuts First All-Electric Hypercar

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Sept. 8, 2019 - PRLog -- It's history in the making. The world's first pure-electric hypercar, the Pininfarina Battista, has landed in Vancouver for its Canadian debut.

Car enthusiasts gathered at a private preview event in Vancouver as Weissach, the authorized dealer for Automobili Pininfarina in Western Canada, unveiled a car that is pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the hypercar realm.

With a top speed of more than 350km/h (making it the fastest street-legal car ever built) the Battista will launch from 0-100km/h in less than two seconds, and has stopping power to match – provided by 390mm carbon-ceramic 6-piston brakes, front and rear. The world's fastest road car is electric!

The Pininfarina Battista is powered by a 1,900hp, 1,696lb-ft of torque all-electric 120kWh Li-ion battery pack powertrain with all-wheel-drive and torque vectoring. On one charge, the luxury hypercar is capable of a 450km range and it's battery can be 80 percent charged in under 30 minutes.

"Automobili Pininfarina's name is synonymous with iconic and groundbreaking design – from Ferrari and Alfa Romeo to Bentley – so it comes as no surprise that the Battista is groundbreaking on every level," says Virji.

Pininfarina Battista is the first in a range of purely electric, zero-emissions, luxury cars solely branded Pininfarina, and delivers on a long-held family dream that has been carried by founder, Battista, his son Sergio, and his grandson, the current Pininfarina SpA Chairman, Paolo.

Form and function weave together to create a design that is bold, beautiful and breathtakingly powerful. Automobili Pininfarina creative director Luca Borgogno worked directly with Carlo Bonzanigo, group design director at parent company Pininfarina SpA to come up with a beautiful design that takes inspiration from the marque's remarkable design history – the 1947 Cisitalia 202, 512S Modulo of 1970 and the 2008 hydrogen fuel-cell powered shooting brake concept Sintesi.

Hypercar enthusiasts can see the Pininfarina Battista on display at the Luxury & Supercar Weekend At VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, B.C. on September 8.

Deliveries for the 150 cars are expected to be from 2020 – the year Pininfarina celebrates its 90th anniversary. The US$2.2 million Pininfarina Battista is now available for preorder.
