Coal Ash and Potential Exposure Risks Discussed in New Online Video
The IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about an important environmental, health and safety (EHS) topic.
"Hundreds of millions of tons of coal ash are generated each year from coal-fired utilities," said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates and the IAQ Video Network. "Potentially hazardous substances that may be found in coal ash could include arsenic, boron, lead, cadmium, chromium, lithium, mercury, molybdenum, thallium, silica and other materials. Workers that handle coal ash and people living near surface impoundments and landfills where coal ash is stored and disposed of could be at risk of exposure. Environmental issues are another major concern as these substances can leach into waterways and groundwater in some circumstances. We hope this video helps to shed some light on coal ash and the need to protect workers, communities and the environment from exposure risks."
