Follow on Google News | Jacksonville Children's Chorus Hosts Public Art Unveiling and Block PartyThe Jacksonville Children's Chorus continues its 25th Anniversary improvements with a public art installation by a Jacksonville artist.
Located in the cathedral district of downtown Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) is hosting a public art installation unveiling and block party on Friday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. Improvements to the JCC headquarters began in June with the replacing of the window screens on the main office building. Now the main office parking lot is getting some attention with a sculpture created by artist and UNF Fine Arts professor, Jenny Hager. Hager's sculptures and visual works have been shown internationally. She is known for her sculpture pieces of cast iron, steel, and wood. She is also interested in the idea that sculpture should create a sense of space. For all of these reasons, the JCC chose Hager to complete this particular public art piece, which is based on the design by Graphic Designer Carolyn Audije. President and Artistic Director, Darren Dailey said "Mrs. Audije's design represents the mission of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus at its very core. Carolyn Audije has served the JCC in a variety of capacities over the last several years including Director of Marketing and PR. Ms. Hager was selected to create the sculpture design because of the joy, engagement, and craftsmanship infused in her work." The public is invited to join the JCC at the unveiling on Friday. Anyone wishing to attend can find more details on our Facebook page.
