PRLog -- There are numerous reasons why one would choose Environmental Systems to perform a purchase Oil tank sweep. The number one reason is commitment to quality of service that is required when performing any geophysical investigation. There are numerous companies performing oil tank sweeps using a metal detector, Environmental Systems uses Ground Penetrating Radar and a metal magnetometer. Most Home inspectors performing tank sweeps are not Environmental companies and routinely miss oil tanks and contamination. Typically most people believe if they don't find a oil tank everything is good. That is not the case, last year will performing a tank sweep in Bay Head ,New Jersey environmental systems discovered some buried 2 in diameter buried pipes. These pipes were not normally seen on residential property and Environmental Systems recommended that extra soil boring and laboratory sampling be completed. As it turns out the property was once part of a larger parcel that had gasoline tanks and was later subdivided. The Remediation cost the property seller over $ 100 K and no oil or gas tanks were ever found. Gasoline and lead exceeding the NJDEP Soil Remediation standards were identified. The most important part of the oil tank sweep is completing the entire property. Only completing a sweep of a 10 foot radius around a residential structure is not properly performing a tank sweep tanks for swimming pool heaters or gas tank may be located on other parts of the property. During Environmental Systems 20 years of performing Oil Tank Sweeps and GEO PHYSICAL Investigations numerous underground structures such as old septic tanks, construction debris and asbestos covered refrigerators have discovered.
