April 23, 2019 - PRLog -- Queenslanders are being urged to recognise the sacrifice and celebrate the service of Defence personnel this ANZAC Day, with hundreds of services and marches to be held across the state on Thursday.

The Brisbane Dawn Service will be the first at the refurbished Shrine of Remembrance in ANZAC Square.

With just a handful of surviving World War II veterans, RSL Queensland president Tony Ferris said it was vital that the significance of ANZAC Day was shared with future generations.

"We will never forget the extraordinary efforts of our World War I and II veterans, and their legacy is carried on by those who follow in their footsteps," Mr Ferris said. "It is our duty to make sure future generations know their story and remember the lessons of war."
