'The Starboard Project' launches SEL & Life Skills Courses with Celebrity interventions

MUMBAI, India - Feb. 18, 2019 - PRLog -- The youth today is reeling under stress from expectations, fear of failure in a hyper-competitive market, inability to manage self-identity leading to social alienation and depression along with addictions, high suicide rates etc. The rates are alarming, one in four kids in India is in one form of depression and we have as a country the highest suicide rates in the world in the 15-29 age group. Add to that skills required for employment with almost 47% of all graduates are unemployable and almost 70% of all skills for jobs in the future not being met adequately in schools today. The Starboard Project intends to fill in these large gaps through courses on Social & Emotional Learning and Life Skills and delivering them through in-person workshops and online and social channels.  The key idea is that the child should be able to adequately manage self and also interactions with the outside world along with equipping them with top requisite skills for jobs of the future. Social influence is a powerful phenomenon in India and globally – and children grow up looking up to, often worshipping, their celebrity idols. To this end Starboard will collaborate with such 'celebrity influencers' to have them facilitate interactive learning engagements, that help children in K-12 schools develop a deep understanding of the skills and mindsets they require to lead happy and productive lives.
