Follow on Google News | The Arizona Lecture Series to Begin 2019 Season on Monday, Jan. 7By: Apache Junction Unified School District Lectures start Jan. 7 and continue every Monday through March 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, or season tickets are available for $50. More information is available online at https://www.ajusd.org/ During the first lecture, Legends of the Superstitions Mountains, Presenter, Bill Harrison, will explore stories about Jacob Waltz and his Lost Dutchman's Mine in the Superstition Mountains. Was there a fabulous pile of gold hidden deep within the mountains? Are ghost haunting the hills and trails? Is there a top secret hanger for flying saucers hidden in a remote canyon? Are there malevolent pygmies mining gold in an inaccessible valley? This presentation will not only look at the myths surrounding Jacob Waltz, but will also carefully examine many of the strange mysteries associated with his lost mine. One undeniable fact is people die horrible deaths every year in the Superstition Mountains. Some of those deaths are considered suspicious, but most can be attributed to underestimating what has been described as "the most savage terrain in North America."
