Second Tranche of Tariffs on Imports from China Have Been Finalized by the USTR

 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Aug. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- Roughly $16 billion of Chinese imports were impacted on Thursday, August 23rd, and subject to an additional 25% tariff increase according to the list officially released by The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). This second round of imposed tariffs, announced under Section 301 investigation, will conjunctionally compound with the initial tranche of tariffs previously imposed on $34 billion of imports from China which took effect July 6, 2018.

The official list contains 279 goods of the projected 284 tariff lines initially proposed to absorb duty rate increases. Customs began collecting the additional taxes on these specific goods on Thursday, August 23, 2018.

This second tranche coincides with the existing duty rates and applies to goods under the following chapters:

[27, 34, 38, 39, 70, 73, 76, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89, 90]

The Federal Register will publish an official notice of the $16 billion tariff and a procedural process documenting how to request certain product exclusions effected by the additional tariffs.
