FORT MYERS, Fla. - May 31, 2018 - PRLog -- The 8th Annual Goodwill Golf Classic raised more than $13,000 to benefit programs and services for people with disabilities and disadvantages in Southwest Florida. The tournament, held May 19 at Coral Oaks Golf Course in Cape Coral, included a 4-person scramble, contests and hundreds of dollars in prizes.

"Players won fabulous prizes but the real winners of this event are the 18,000 people we help each year in Southwest Florida through our non-profit programs and services," said Susan Hegarty, Public Relations and Social Media Manager for Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc.

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves people with disabilities and disadvantages by offering life-changing opportunities to achieve independence.

With a score of 56, first place was awarded to the team of Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida CEO and President Rick Evanchyk, John Petrosy, Ross Lally and Zach Holden.

Sullivan Benefits served as the Premier Sponsor of the tournament, while Beverage Sponsors included The Columbia Property Group and Safety Net, Inc.

Goodwill's annual Partners in Opportunity donors included B & I, Hahn & Loeser Law, Gulfcoast Consulting Group, and Lee Designs. Butch Borchert, owner of Security Specialist, is a founding member in planning and executing the event. Dozens of Hole Sponsors were represented at the tee boxes.  The Florida Eels Sled Hockey Association operated the Fuzzy Dice game and Leaderboard of Miami helped golfers shoot their balls from a unique Golf Ball Launcher for a chance to score a hole-in-one.

Although, nobody won the Hole-in-One contest to win a trip to play golf at Pebble Beach, Gary Faulkenbury of Piedmont Companies made a hole-in-one on Hole 6. He also was awarded a week-long getaway for landing his ball closest to the cup on Hole 2 using the Golf Ball Launcher.

In 2017, Goodwill provided vocational and social services to more than 18,000 Southwest Floridians in Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Hendry, and Glades counties, through programs and services such as Goodwill Job-Link centers, and Pathways to Opportunities.

Goodwill is proud of its platinum rating on Guidestar; 89 cents of every dollar goes toward its programs and services in Southwest Florida.
