educogym Canary Wharf answer the age old question 'are sweeteners better than sugar'

The UK is facing a huge obesity epidemic, with sugar being the main culprit, eduocgym Canary Wharf decide if replacing with sweeteners will slim the nation.

CANARY WHARF, U.K. - May 30, 2018 - PRLog -- Everything these days is filled with sugar from the obvious can of coke to the not so obvious crackers and even seasoning. The UK is facing an epidemic of obesity and one of the new decisions being made in many products is to replace sugar with a sweetener. "Of course the main affect of swapping sugar for a sweetener it's less calories, a can of coke has 9 cubes of sugar, so if they are removed from someone's diet and replaced with a low calorie sweetener, that person is saving many calories a day if they drink coke regularly" explained Orlstyne Wilson, educogym Canary Wharf personal trainer.

But are they safe? "All sweeteners used in the UK have been tested and reach UK safety standards, they are shown not to cause cancer, not to affect reproduction, not to store in the body or change in the body into a harmful substance and so as far as we know they are safe. However sweeteners are not safe for everyone and so that needs to be checked before taking. They are synthetic, this doesn't mean they are harmful, as some even come from plants" explained Godfrey Nurse, educogym Canary Wharf personal trainer.

The main question is, will they help the population lose weight? "No. No they won't, not on their own anyway. Your diet as a whole is what will affect your weight, if you eat very healthy, wholesome natural foods and have coke once a week you are unlikely to be overweight. If you drink more coke than you do water, diet or not, but also snack on processed foods regularly, you are more likely to be overweight, it also depends on your genetics and your metabolism. At educogym Canary Wharf, we focus on eating natural, healthy foods, making real meals, no processed food, water and grapefruit juice, fresh berries and lots of greens, proteins and healthy fats, sweeteners don't play a huge role in any of our nutrition plans" stated Orlstyne Wilson, educogym Canary Wharf personal trainer.
