STUART, Fla. - March 26, 2018 - PRLog -- Do you have a secret desire to be a star and perform on stage? Are you seeking the opportunity to try something new? Do you have what it takes to dance the Tango and raise money for pregnant women and babies? Then look no further.

Healthy Start Coalition is now accepting applications from hopeful candidates for  Dancing with the Martin Stars,  their  annual and highly-acclaimed dancing and fundraising competition.  Only eight applicants will be selected for the experience which will be held on September 22 at the Lyric Theatre.

Applications are available at http://www.mchealthystart.org/dancing-martin-stars.html or call Samantha Suffich at 772-463-2888, ext 141. All applications must be submitted by April 18.

Finalists will be paired with a professional dancer who will be their teacher over the five- month period beginning in May.  Dance styles run the gamut from the Tango and ballroom dancing to the Cha-Cha, Charleston, Mambo and Samba.

"We consider a number of factors in the application process," said Samantha Suffich, Executive Director of Martin County Healthy Start. In addition to basic information about work, they are interested in the applicant's community involvement and experience with other non-profits.  Prior dance experience, including recreational, professional and competitive, is also evaluated.

Applicants are encouraged to describe why they should be chosen for the star-making opportunity and may submit video, photos, or testimonials to support their entry.

In 2017, $143,000 was raised providing essential funding for programs of Healthy Start. Dr. Brian Moriarty was the overall winner with the best-combined dance score and fundraising with nearly $30,000 in donations. Rosi Shepard was the runner-up fundraiser raising over $23,000; Jean Laws-Scott received three perfect scores of 10 from the judges and was crowned highest dance score for her efforts.
