PALM CITY, Fla. - Feb. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- You are invited to meet the 80 plus artists who will have their work on display and for sale on Saturday, February 24 from 9 am to 4 pm at Sandhill Cove Retirement Center in Palm City.  "This is our 5th year of sponsoring this event and it is our gift to the community," said Jill Burton, Director of Marketing. "We enjoy hosting the artists, who all participate for free and invite the public to meet the artists, buy their artwork and tour our beautiful campus."

Horst W. Mueller will probably be the only artist who says "Please Touch My Art."  With a warm and engaging spirit and an eagerness to share his art style and philosophy, Horst's work is unique in the richness and thick texture of each painting. Exuberant abstract art, often adorned with gold, the surfaces beg to be explored by touch and you are welcome to do so.

Horst, age 76 and a Jensen Beach resident, didn't discover his passion for painting until 2001. Originally from Germany, Horst is a former engineer who has traveled the world and continues to be an art force in Germany and the United States.  He is a champion of making art accessible to disabled people, adults and children alike.

His artwork exudes his philosophy of  "Even Hands Can See" and encourages blind people and anyone who wants to touch his paintings, to explore the images for themselves.

He had his first show in 2010 at Osceola 32 Gallery in Stuart, owned by Rachel Goldberg and Michael Penn. They invited the Federation of the Blind to attend and his work and his process was very warmly received. He continues to exhibit in the United States and Germany, where he spends the summer.

Horst has gone beyond just painting for his own enjoyment with workshops that encourage participants to express themselves from within, with no boundaries or suggestions imposed by others.

He uses a special blend of gypsum mixed with a polymer and retardant to slow down the drying process. Using a prepared art board, each participant paints their vision with their hands or sometimes a simple tool, like a spoon. The material has to dry for several days before any color can be applied to it.

To help celebrate their 100th anniversary, Lions Club International sponsored Horst to produce100 workshops in Germany.  Over 1400 people experienced the joy of making art, many for the first time.

Horst will hold a workshop in February with Helping People Succeed for adults with intellectual disabilities who participate in their Community Connection program. The program focuses on providing creative opportunities for self-expression and Horst's art program is a perfect complement. Helping People Succeed is the beneficiary of all proceeds from the Art Show and Sale at Sandhill Cove. For more information on Horst W. Mueller, visit http://www.even-hands-can-see.com/
