Alten Construction begins expansion for KIPP Bridge Academy

OAKLAND, Calif. - Feb. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- A full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, Alten Construction (http://www.altenconstruction.com/), recently began the expansion for KIPP Bridge Academy (http://www.kippbayarea.org/schools/bridge/), a transitional kindergarten through eighth-grade public charter school that is free and open to all students.

KIPP Bridge Academy has educated students in West Oakland since its founding in 2002 and is now expanding to serve more students, adding to the one building that is currently on its campus.

The $8.72 million project will include the construction of a new two-story building that will contain science classrooms, administration offices, a cafeteria, kitchen and an elevator. Alten Construction will also install a chain link fence, trash enclosure and all utilities, add bioswales and perform site work, such as asphalt and concrete paving and landscaping. Located at 1700 Market St. in Oakland, the KIPP Bridge Academy project is slated for completion in fall 2018.

KIPP Bridge Academy currently has more than 560 students enrolled and is one of 12 KIPP schools in the Bay Area. KIPP is a nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools educating elementary, middle and high school students. The organization's goal is to help students develop the knowledge, skills and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.
