By: ATHENA Valley of the Sun The renowned body language expert will be discussing how to use body language for success in the workplace, how to tell the difference between positive and negative body language, and other basics of nonverbal communication at an ATHENA Valley of the Sun (AVOS) luncheon on February 1 from 11 am to 1 pm at Seasons 52 in Phoenix. Mousseux, a professional speaker, educator and author of Body Language and its Power: How to Read It, How to Use It, has been featured on local and national TV shows and in numerous publications.She has assessed the body language displayed in three presidential debates as well as participating in assessments of defendants in high profile court cases. The interactive educational luncheon is being presented by ATHENA Valley of the Sun, a nonprofit based in Mesa, as part of a monthly educational series for women. Dr. Kristine Quade, founder of AVOS, says, "Body language is such an integral part of communication. We're presenting this important topic as part of the ATHENA principle of Learning Constantly." Mousseux says that "Interpreting body language can be used to improve hiring practices and can even help salespeople sell in half the time that it would normally take. It's a very powerful tool." Mousseux, a former language teacher in Fountain Hills and in Scottsdale, began studying and inpreting body language eleven years ago. Since that time she has been asked by media outlets nationwide to interpret the gestures and body language of public figures and in court cases to assist in jury selection. ATHENA Valley of the Sun is a new Arizona affiliate of ATHENA International. Founded in 1982 by Martha Mertz, ATHENA Internationalâ„¢ ATHENA Valley of the Sun hosts monthly meetings the first Thursday of each month at Seasons 52 located at 2502 E Camelback Rd in Phoenix.
