A quintet of musicians led by master trumpeter Eric Jacobson will be featured in the concert, "My Funny Valentine." Romantic melodies like Cole Porter's "Night and Day" will tug at heartstrings, and effervescent numbers will have everyone snapping their fingers. The Eric Jacobson Quintet will be drawing their music selections largely from the Great American Songbook, a compilation of jazz standards dating back to the early 20th century. Schooled to swing, Eric Jacobson is in high demand. He has performed with Grammy Award winners Tito Puente, Jr., and pop artist Eric Benet. He completed a world tour between 2010 and 2013 with the soul band, Kings Go Forth, and now performs mainly in Chicago and Milwaukee with the jazz ensemble, We Six, and the Latin band, De La Buena. As a recording artist, Mr. Jacobson has enjoyed collaborating on the albums "The Sweet Minute Big Band" and "Human Kindness." His latest album as leader is titled "Discover." At the Valentine concert, Mr. Jacobson will be accompanied by fellow musicians Eric Schoor on tenor sax, Mark Davis on piano, Jeff Hamann on double bass, and Todd Howell on drums. Rarely does this brand of jazz--traditional fodder for night owls--come to such an easily accessed venue, and at such a decent hour! Tickets are available now. Admission is $20.
