PRLog -- BCS Overland Park/Leawood says there are several mistakes that job searchers make when conducting a campaign. The first is not spending enough time on the search. If someone is unemployed, they should be spending at least 35 hours a week on the search. An employed person should spend between seven and 15 hours per week to get some momentum. Secondly, there should be between six to 10 things in the works at all times. Opportunities will fall through and when they do they will need to be replaced with other potential opportunities. This keeps the law of averages in the job seekers favor. Finally, most candidates target people at the wrong level. The rule of thumb is to talk with people who are one to two levels above the job they are looking for. It is easier to work the resume down to the right person vs. working the resume up.
