PRLog -- BCS Overland Park/Leawood says that job seekers looking to transition into new industries must keep a couple things in mind when preparing a resume. First, the resume should be no more than two pages and include a profile, transferable skill sets and achievements on page one. Executives spend on average only 15 – 25 seconds reviewing the first page of the resume to determine if this is a viable candidate. The second page gives a work history, dates, training and education without indicating the dates graduated. The resume should be very clear how the skills and accomplishments will transfer to the new industry being pursued. It is important to keep in mind that the purpose of the resume is to generate interest which leads to the interview. Current industries and dates are shifted to the second page to prevent the employers from pigeonholing the candidate – keeping in mind that the first page is the "hook".
