Beyond Capital Invests in Kasha

DALLAS, TX, October 10, 2017 – Beyond Capital is pleased and proud to announce the Fund's recent investment in Kasha, a mobile retail and content platform that sells women's health products such as sanitary pads and contraceptives in Rwanda. Kasha takes on the issue of social stigma, focusing on confidentiality and democratizing access to women's health. The Company strives to be Africa's largest platform for women's health products and information.

In September 2017, Kasha reached 600 orders delivered, and forecasts 800 orders for October 2017, continuing a consistently strong month-over-month growth trend. Cumulatively, the Company has reached 3,200 orders to-date in Rwanda. Customers represent women of all socioeconomic levels including low income women in rural areas, professional middle-income women, university students, and secondary school students and their parents.  Notably, 40% of orders sold in September were from the Company's low income (Bottom of the Pyramid) customer program. This program is led through Kasha's Agent and group order model.

Kasha also recently implemented the Kasha Student Subscription Program that plugs into student stipends and tuition payment platforms to ease payment and optimize for monthly delivery of products such as sanitary pads and other personal and health care products. In its first few weeks the Company introduced 200 university and high-school students onto a monthly subscription, and continues to work on increasing penetration within existing school partners as well as onboarding new schools.

The Kasha Student Subscription Program targets both college and secondary schools with a particular emphasis on menstrual care. For secondary schools, the process usually involves both mother and daughter. However, in some instances a daughter will place orders for sanitary pads without her mother realizing. In a recent case, a mother called Kasha saying that she had no idea her daughter had even received her period, as her daughter is in boarding school. This common scenario demonstrates just how taboo menstruation is, and how girls often do not talk to their mothers about starting their periods. As part of its Student Subscription Program, Kasha commits to giving monthly informational sessions to students about health and personal care topics. The Company has been asked to do something similar for parents.

Beyond Capital's investment of $30,000 in the seed round will help Kasha expand its customer acquisition efforts and scale existing operations in Rwanda. Other institutional investors in the seed round include 1to4 (GiftVest), Giving Wings (Case for Her), Partners Group Impact Fund, Jumping Spider Investments, and East Africa Investments. Kasha has also received a combined grant worth $300k from Unilever Transform and Unilever Rwanda.
