MANCHESTER, N.H. - Aug. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- A mom has turned her son Daniel's death from a heroin overdose last year into a quest to bring awareness and hope to others.  Maureen Sheedy-Morris's Shining Hope on Addiction Facebook page was created to shine light on the darkness of addiction and as a resource and for those who suffer, including families and friends. In addition, on the anniversary of Daniel's death, she is calling others to shine "lights" for those who suffer or have been lost.

"Daniel's death is no secret, and my advice to others is that you have to make sure you cover all of your bases," says Sheedy-Morris. "You don't know what you don't know until it is too late. I hope the Shining Hope on Addiction Facebook page will serve as an aggregate of information where others can go to learn more and to find hope and inspiration."

On September 4, 2017, the anniversary of Daniel's death, Sheedy-Morris is asking others to line their walks with luminaries in honor or memory of someone who has faced addiction.

"It's a simple gesture to show solidarity and unity, and to show others that we are not alone," she says. "I am hoping people will submit pictures of their luminaries to our Facebook page. The goal is to show those that are quietly suffering that we are not alone and to increase awareness of the growing epidemic of addiction, particularly opioid use."
