LOS ANGELES - June 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Keeve Productions' award-winning feature length documentary "From Russia to Hollywood: The 100-Year Odyssey of Chekhov and Shdanoff" is now available to view on Amazon and Amazon Prime.

The Hollywood Film Festival finalist traces the incredible journey of two actor/artists, Michael Chekhov and George Shdanoff, who escaped revolutionary Russia and World War II to coach the legendary stars of Hollywood in their most memorable Academy Award-winning roles.

Chekhov's brilliant career was in contrast to his tumultuous personal life which included narrow escapes from persecution, liquidation, revolution, war, divorce, family deaths, and alcoholism. Targeted by the repressive Stalinist regime for "liquidation," Chekhov escaped to Berlin and there he met George Shdanoff, a Russian Jew who was also exiled from Russia. Their close personal friendship and collaboration lasted over twenty-five years until Chekhov's untimely death in 1955.

Founder of Keeve Productions, Frederick Keeve, conceived of this project while studying acting with the then ninety-year-old Shdanoff. Keeve worked on the project for more than seven years, shot over 200 hours of footage in countries around the world.  "Because of the timeless appeal of this film, I am really pleased and proud to announce that it is now available for a new generation of TV and film-goers, " said Keeve. "History has a profound influence, and it is important to understand the legacy of Chekhov and Shdanoff, and of the great motion picture stars and directors of the classic era of filmmaking in Hollywood."

This film has screened at many notable film festivals and on KCET public television in Los Angeles. Anthony Quinn, Jack Palance, Patricia Neal, Leslie Caron Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Sharon Gless, Beatrice Straight, Craig Sheffer, John Berry, Hurd Hatfield, Ford Rainey, Jack Larson, and many others reveal the intimate stories and memories of the impact that these two master teachers, Chekhov and Shdanoff, had on their lives and careers. Among the legendary actors and directors who studied with and were influenced by these two Russia giants include  Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Clint Eastwood and Jack Nicholson. Many other noted artists used the Chekhov/Shdanoff techniques to develop the seminal roles of their careers, many of which won them Oscars and Tony Awards. Chekhov himself was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Hitchcock's Spellbound, starring Ingrid Bergman and Gregory Peck.

Keeve was joined by co-producers Lisa Dalton and Sue Mischel, as well as Charles X Block and Peter Spirer, who collaborated with Keeve as producers on the documentary. Gregory Peck and Mala Powers narrated the epic journey of Michael Chekhov and George Shdanoff, developing the acting techniques that influenced generations of noted actors and directors in Hollywood.
