SAN DIEGO - April 20, 2018 - PRLog -- The world is seeing a significant shift as staggering amounts of people are opting to eat plant-based foods. Whether full-time vegans or occasional plant-based eaters, people are becoming astutely aware of the benefits that arise from choosing animal-free products and experiences.

One company, San Diego-based PlantBasedPopUp, is challenging the traditional meat-centric 'food and wine dinner' event with its plant-based alternative.

"Historically, food and wine events and prix fixe menus with wine parings have centered around meat," said Anna Keeve, founder of PlantBasedPopUp. "Because of this, plant-based eaters miss out on these types of experiences. It's time to reframe the way we look at this concept of pairing food and wine."

PlantBasedPopUp does just that by hosting wine-and-dine plant-based dinner events at top, trendy restaurants. Dinner parties are typically small and intimate, and include an expert that attends the dinner to provide wine education. Only PlantBasedPopUp subscribers are invited to attend.

Behind the scenes PlantBasedPopUp also advocates restaurants to add dedicated plant-based dishes (often signified with a "V" on a menu) to their standard, daily menus.

"Restaurants are starting to recognize that there is a growing consumer segment that wants to see plant-based options when they go out to eat," said Keeve.  "And while not everyone wants to always go to a 'vegan' restaurant, people will choose establishments that offer options." Keeve calls this the "inclusive dining" movement.

PlantBasedPopUp is launching in San Diego with its "Summer Series" in June 2018, with plans to expand to Los Angeles (and other cities based on demand) shortly after. You can sign up to get on the dinner invite list on their website, www.PlantBasedPopUp.org.
