Kent State's College of Business Administration Awards the 2016 Accounting Alumni of the Year

KENT, Ohio - June 8, 2016 - PRLog -- The College of Business Administration's Department of Accounting recognized Gregg Vignos, retired partner of Paul Hastings, LLP, as the 2016 Accounting Alumni of the Year at the College's awards ceremony at the Kent State Student Center.

"Gregg was selected as the 2016 Accounting Alumni of the Year because of his continuing commitment to Kent State University, the College of Business Administration and the Department of Accounting," said Linda Zucca, chair of the department of accounting. "His career accomplishments and dedication serve as an example for our students."

Vignos began his career at Paul Hastings as a partner in September 2004. Prior to Paul Hastings, he was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP. He retired in January 2012. Vignos earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Kent State University in 1978.

Vignos also attended the University of Michigan Law School from 1978 to 1981 where he earned his Juris Doctor degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of The Order of the Coif, an honorary scholastic society.

"Each year, the accounting faculty chooses an alumnus who shows incredible dedication and innovation to not only the Department of Accounting but to the College of Business Administration and Kent State University as a whole," said Dean Deborah F. Spake. "Gregg is a perfect example of the success our students achieve and an exceptional representation of the College."

Vignos joins Margie Connor of Davey Tree; Chris Chizmar of Deloitte; Robb Soles of KPMG; and Tim Michel of Rea & Associate as fellow Accounting Alumni of the Year honorees.

The winner is selected by a panel of accounting faculty based on the following: contributions to the accounting profession, involvement in Kent State University and the College of Business Administration's accounting program and professional and career achievements.
