LOS ANGELES - May 16, 2016 - PRLog -- The power of love and faith are the driving forces behind THE SOUL HYPNOTIST, the new novel by Edwina Orelus. When a young girl is given up for adoption after a family tragedy, her life and destiny change dramatically; however, the principles of faith that she learned from her biological family save her from losing her soul.

Laoise is very close to her father, who teaches her about faith and following her heart. When Laoise is six years old, her father, a farmworker, becomes ill with pneumonia. The poor family is unable to pay for proper medical care, and her father dies at home.

After her husband's death, Laoise's mother struggles to support her daughter. One day a priest suggests that she put Laoise up for adoption. After selling everything she can, and with no work prospects in sight, Laoise's mother submits to her last option for providing a decent life for her daughter and initiates the adoption process.

Laoise is adopted by a wealthy couple who provide her with the best of everything, including attendance in a prestigious boarding school. Although Laoise's life improves significantly, jinni, God-created spirits that can be good or bad, often visit her and secretly impact her destiny.

When Laoise completes her schooling, she travels to Egypt to learn about her biological mother's culture. There she meets and falls in love with Alsainder, a soldier in the British army. The couple becomes engaged soon after meeting. However, Laoise's adoptive parents don't approve of Alsainder. Because she does not have her parents' support, Laoise walks away from the relationship and agrees to marry a wealthy doctor who gifted her with an expensive necklace during their first meeting. Shortly after her marriage, it becomes clear to Laoise that her new husband is abusive and has a disturbing past; however, Laoise's faith keeps her strong as she navigates the volatile relationship.

THE SOUL HYPNOTIST illustrates the importance of being true to oneself when navigating challenges in life. "I want my readers to follow their hearts and know that being spiritual or religious isn't a bad thing," Orelus says. "They should always listen to their instincts, because our instincts are always right."

The author hopes that THE SOUL HYPNOTIST will help readers to take ownership of their lives, even when things don't work out exactly as they hoped. "I want people to understand that sometimes life doesn't work out the way they plan it, but they are in control of their lives, and they shouldn't let others dictate their happiness or tell them how to live."
