DALLAS - May 6, 2016 - PRLog -- Singers, raptivists, DJ's, dancers, spoken word artists/poets, musicians and the Dallas community of Hamilton Park and beyond come together to raise funds to enhance the program offerings spear headed by Black Women's Defense League.

On May 14th, 2016, Black Women's Defense League (BWDL) is coordinating a one day fundraiser at Willie B. Johnson in Hamilton Park, 12225 Willowdell Dr, Dallas, TX 75243 from 1:00 p.m. - 7 p.m. Entry is FREE and family friendly.

Attendees can look forward to a very diverse line up with top notch performances from artists who both entertain and feed the soul. Families can enjoy African face painting, food vendors, black business merchants, basketball tournaments, dominoes/spades/chess games, contests and raffle prizes PLUS a store with clothing, household items, and toys that are FREE to the community. The event will be hosted by award winning spoken word artist Rage Almighty (Verses and Flow) and singer/poet/activist Black Page. D.J. Boladi will provide the musical backdrop for the days' festivities. Visit the Facebook Event for the line-up and information on current sponsors and vendors - more are being added daily.

Black Women's Defense League has provided food, clothing, domestic violence assistance and a number of other much needed resources weekly to families of color all over Dallas since its inception in 2015. The funds provided by this event will be used for: RBG Sunday, a weekly outreach event which provides food, clothing and information to various communities in Dallas while fostering a sense of community and solidarity everywhere; Assata's Daughters & Fred's Sons, a youth summer program scheduled for summer 2016 which will teach life skills, knowledge of self and create a desire to inspire change for the children it serves. Funds will also be used to continue the work of Black Women's Defense League in providing resources to disadvantaged women and families of color dealing with rape, domestic violence, teen pregnancy and economic hardship.

Sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and artists are still needed; we encourage you to share and participate to make this important family fun event a success. Sponsor information and the event flyer is attached.
