Pay is the least important factor for candidates when choosing a new job

March 15, 2016 - PRLog -- When candidates were asked to pick the most important factor when choosing a new job surprisingly 'Pay' came in last. With only 9 per cent of the vote, pay followed 'Prospects', 'Working environment/company' and leading the way by a long way, 'Location'.

The survey was conducted by CVbrowser, and reveals the motivating factors driving candidates when choosing their next job. Pay has always traditionally been the tool successful companies use to acquire the top talent - but is it the pay cheque that is motivating the applications? CVbrowser's poll would suggest otherwise.

Could popular companies in plum locations offer significantly lower pay than they currently do? Probably not, but it does suggest that candidates are far more selective in their decision making process than some had suggested.

The full options, with percentage voted for were: Pay (9 per cent), Prospects (13 per cent), Working environment / company (25 per cent) and Location with the commanding 53 per cent. This does link nicely to a poll CVbrowser ran a few weeks back where 86 per cent of respondents said the commute was something that made them want to switch jobs - we just hate travelling to work!

The poll was conducted by CVbrowser (http://www.cvbrowser.com/) between 8 - 14 of March and involved 408 respondents.
