European Union Adapts EN 71-5:2015 to Conform with the Toy Safety Directive

The European Union (EU) has harmonized EN 71-5:2015 to give presumption of conformity with the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC.
 
FANLING, China - Jan. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- The existing standard, EN 71-5:2013, will cease to give presumption of conformity on May 31, 2016.

In November 2015, SGS informed [1] readers that the new toy safety standard EN 71-5:2015 for 'Chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets' was published by the Comité Européen de Normalisation (CEN, European Committee for Standardization). This standard was expected to be cited in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) to give presumption of conformity with the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC (TSD) [2].

Harmonized Toy Safety Standard EN 71-5:2015

On November 13, 2015, Commission communication 2015/C 378/01 [3] was published in the OJEU harmonizing the toy safety standard EN 71-5:2015 to give presumption of conformity with the TSD. According to the communication, EN 71-5:2013 will cease to give presumption of conformity with the TSD on May 31, 2016.
