BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Dec. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Bonita Springs, FL-- The Rotary Club of Bonita Springs, Rotary Club of Bonita Springs Noon and the City of Bonita Springs have purchased a 14’ two-face Rotary clock tower to be placed near the NE intersection of Childers Street and Old 41 across from Riverside Park.

Both Rotary Clubs worked with the Art in Public Places Advisory Board of the City of Bonita Springs and the developer of the new downtown area to select a prominent location for the clock.  “We see this as a local landmark meeting place for the people of Bonita Springs, as they traverse Old 41 and explore the new downtown,” said Bob Lombardo from the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs.

Nigel Fullick, Chairman of the Art in Public Places Advisory Board sheparded the Rotary request through the committee and to the Bonita Springs City Council for approval.  “We have looked at a tower clock for the new downtown development for quite some time; and are pleased that both Rotary Clubs in Bonita Springs approached us with their interest in helping to fund this project,” explained Fullick.

Bonita Springs City Manager, Carl Schwing added, “Bonita Springs  est. 1999” will be at the top of the Rotary clock tower.” “This is an excellent collaboration of two community organizations and the City, and we are pleased to have this generous contribution by both Rotary Clubs,” continued Schwing.  “Riverside Park is booked most every weekend in season,” said Schwing.

Rotarian, Rick Perry echoed that by saying, “The Rotary Club of Bonita Springs Noon holds the annual Taste of Bonita and the Wine Fest & Craft Beer Social in Riverside Park, and having this Rotary Clock nearby for the community to view and enjoy was important to our Club members.”

Mike Rusk, President of the Noon Rotary continued, “The Rotary clock has fully functional and programmable chimes to play music to match the holiday – from patriotic music on July 4th to Holiday music in December.”

Tom Briers, President of the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs summed it up by saying, “This will be a fun family gathering place on the new sidewalks across from Riverside Park.”

According to Arleen Hunter, Director of Development Services for the City of Bonita Springs, “The Rotary Clock is set to be delivered in March 2016; and there will be an inauguration ceremony in April around the time of Celebrate Bonita.”
