Dr. Roy Aranda presents a workshop on PTSD

 
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. - Dec. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Dr. Roy Aranda speaks about Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) an anxiety disorder that can develop in persons who have had very traumatic, disturbing, or frightening experiences, or have witnessed such events, whether in close proximity or even at a distance. PTSD became officially recognized as a mental health condition in 1980 when it was included in the DSM-III. PTSD can rear its ugly head under many different circumstances.

Suffolk County Psychological Association is located in Long Island, New York. SCPA's mission is to promote the profession of psychology in Suffolk County through fellowship, education and advocacy.  This site has a searchable database (http://www.suffolkpsych.org/search.asp) to help someone find a psychologist near you, one who treats a specific kind of problem, is in their insurance plan, and/or provides a specific type of treatment.(www,suffolkpsych.org).

Dr. Aranda has a Doctor of Psychology degree from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University, 2-year post-doctoral degree in neuropsychology in and a law degree. He has been a licensed psychologist in the State of New York since 1983. He is the President of Long Island Psychological Consulting, P.C. with several offices in Queens and Long Island. Dr. Aranda was immersed in crisis work after 9/11 and appeared on many news broadcasts and shows. Dr. Aranda has been actively involved in relief efforts in the aftermath of the terrible devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Dr. Aranda was a member of the New York State Psychological Association’s SAFE Act Committee reviewing the recent gun control law enacted in NY following the Sandy Hook shooting, and presently is a member of the Duty to Protect Working Group.

Dr. Aranda is an active member of the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA). He is a Member-at-Large of NYSPA’s Executive Committee, NYSPA Council Representative of Nassau County Psychological Association (NCPA), Chair of the Psychology and Law Committee of NCPA, member of NYSPA’s Legislative Committee, Chair of NYSPA’s Membership Committee, member of Suffolk County Psychological Association and the Psychology and Law Committee, Member-at-Large, Board of Directors of the National Association of Puerto Rican and Hispanic Social Workers, Member-at-Large, Executive Board, Latino Psychological Association of New Jersey, Vice-President of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, and is on the Editorial Board of Noticias, the official publication of the Hispanic National Bar Association. Dr. Aranda is also the  President of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society.
