Domestic violence is a huge - though tragically under-reported - problem in Western Society, and it is doubly so when there are pets involved. In memory of her dog Jake, who sadly passed away some years ago, she has decided - with the co-operation and support of her publisher - to donate a proportion of the proceeds of her debut novel to a project run by a leading animal charity. Pet owners see their pets as sources of comfort, friends, companions and - in a very real sense - family members. Often, people in an abusive relationship will stay there rather than risk losing their pet if they walk away - the majority of private landlords simply will not accept renters with pets and the chances of an abused partner securing emergency accomodation with a pet in tow are practically non-existent. There is now help available for abused partners with pets. Two charity-run refuges offer victims of domestic abuse a safe haven for their pets while they escape from their predicament. Jordyn Burlot is pleased to annouce that 25% of all proceeds from all sales of the novel "Destiel" will be donated to these refuges, regardless of format or sales location. Jordyn Burlot is available for interview and can be contacted via Copyhouse Press Ltd http://www.copyhousepress.co.uk End
