BA_Logo The six-part special series “Broadway Balances America” provides interviews highlighting the shows that are featured on Broadway Across America’s 2015-2016 Broadway series nationwide - from Boston to Costa Mesa, from Houston to Minneapolis, and everywhere in between. This fourth episode of the six-part “Broadway Balances America” series takes a look on the other side of the rainbow as a new production of one of the most well-known pieces of stage and film begins a national tour this December. The Balancing Act® correspondent Amber Milt visits the production's costume shop in Baltimore, MD, where the world's next "Dorothy,” a Maryland native, talks about the meaning of "no place like home" before embarking on the U.S. tour. Viewers will see the transformation as the young actress is fitted into her iconic costume for the first time, while exploring what's behind these famous female characters and the shoes they wear, and how new musical numbers penned by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice bring a classic back to life. About THE WIZARD OF OZ: This new production of THE WIZARD OF OZ is an enchanting adaptation of the all-time classic. Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay, the production contains the beloved Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all of the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. THE WIZARD OF OZ had its world premiere at The London Palladium Theatre in March of 2011. After a successful West End run, the production had its North American premiere in Toronto in December of 2012, and toured the US from September of 2013 through June of 2014.
