NEW YORK - Oct. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Attorney Michael Redenburg recently represented a client in Manhattan Criminal Court who had been criminally charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration, commonly referred to as OGA, PL 195.05. The NYPD Officer who swore out the Criminal Court Complaint against the client, T.G., alleged that T.G. had placed her body in front of the backseat door of the police vehicle while the officer was attempting to place her husband into the patrol car. At T.G.'s first Criminal Court appearance following her arraignment, the matter was adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.

Thereafter, T.G. counterpunched and retained Attorney Redenburg to represent her in a civil action alleging false arrest, unreasonable force and first amendment retaliation. More specifically, the Federal Court Complaint alleges that on a night when T.G. and her family had been out to a restaurant in Chelsea, two of her cousins got into a verbal altercation at the restaurant. Thereafter, the bill was paid and T.G. went with her husband and cousin to wait for the bus a block away. A marked NYPD patrol pulled up and the restaurant manager was in the back seat of the car. The restaurant manager pointed out T.G.'s husband and cousin.

T.G. inquired of the NYPD Officer, "What's going on?" to which the officer responded, "Back up, I'm not talking to you." The officer also informed her that she was being annoying. Next, the officer hip-checked and shoved T.G. and her husband and cousin were taken back to the restaurant. T. G. walked back to the restaurant where she saw her husband and cousin standing in front.

Now in front of the restaurant also, the officer grabbed T.G.'s bag and handed it to a female officer before handcuffing T.G. She was taken to the precinct for processing where she heard an NYPD Officer bragging of his "OGA collar." Thirty three (33) hours later she was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court and released on her own recognizance. The matter was ACD at the next appearance.

Michael Redenburg represents T.G. and regularly represents individuals criminally charged as well as representing individuals in false arrest civil lawsuits against the City of New York.
