AUSTIN, Texas - Oct. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Are you a person that wants to make a difference in your community related to illness, dying, death and mourning?

You can and you don't have to train with anyone to do so. What communities need are safe spaces where individuals can join together and explore their feelings and thoughts around these topics.

Sometimes it is appropriate to be alone and ponder. Sometimes it is better to be with others and share how you see things, listen to others' stories and experience how we are more alike than different.

You don't have to have credentials to hold this kind of space. Death Cafe has been a great success in encouraging gatherings of people to talk about death. Death over Dinner is another platform.

You can have a book club or movie night at your community center or library. This kind of community leadership is empowering for everyone as we need to talk about the ways that we can ensure we have a life AND a dying that is true to who we are.
