RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - Oct. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- MMT Neurotech, a commercial stage neuroimaging company, wants to understand how virtual brain modeling could create artificial thoughts.  Using a supercomputer reconstruction of 30,000 neurons with 40 million synaptic connections, the European based Blue Brain Project has developed a digital reconstruction of a tiny portion of the rat brain to test how different types of virtual neurons learn and act.

“This is an incredible achievement” opined Dr. Steven Levy, CEO of MMT Neurotech.  MMT is already recording human thoughts and memories using functional MRI in conjunction with our proprietary technology http://www.milmag.net/thought-dream-recording/ “MMT’s plans include development of playback systems to allow the actual re-experience of those memories by the individual who initially recorded their thoughts.  We have also advanced the possibility of individuals experiencing the recorded thoughts of other people as a ‘download’, much like any online content.  However based on the forward leaning work in the Blue Brain Project, we must consider the possibility that recorded thoughts could ultimately interact with and create new forms of reasoning independent of the individual who first generated them. That ‘thoughts’ themselves could potentially be placed on a virtual brain network, interact with other thoughts from multiple separate individuals, and thereby creating new thinking patterns that are completely unique and totally artificial is extremely exciting.”

In the October issue of the journal ‘Cell’ in an article titled “Reconstruction and Simulation of Neocortical Microcircuitry”, the Blue Brain Project group suggested that their artificial neocortex was the first step to digitally reconstructing and simulating an entire brain. This work is part the Human Brain Project (HBP), a European Union funded consortium whose goal is generating an informatics infrastructure of rodent and human brain models.

The founder and CSO of MMT Neurotech, Dr. Donald Marks, adds: “We look forward to the many advances the authors will make in the HBP.  Our company envisions brain virtualization moving from exploring the workings of the brain to allowing the creation of artificial thoughts. This is truly a window into the future and holds phenomenal promise.”

MMT Neurotech / Millennium Magnetic Technologies is a commercial stage neuroimaging company holding the only issued patent on the association of real-time thought processes or thinking with specific neural activation patterns in the brain.  This allows for evaluation of a number of issues including objectively documenting the presence of pain for personal injury and disability claims, establishing fibromyalgia, identifying depression and suicidal ideation, monitoring for deception or lie detection during forensic interrogation with greater than 90% accuracy, real-time memory recordings, as well as providing the earliest possible diagnosis and therefore treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and pre-Alzheimer’s disease.
