DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Aug. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Brandon Hall Group, the leading independent Human Capital Management research/analyst firm, released new Leadership Development research that paints a daunting picture of the state of leadership development while offering progressive guidance for future success.

Leadership Development 2015: The Time to Act is Now, (http://go.brandonhall.com/leadership_development_2015_industry_perspective) developed and written by Laci Loew, VP and Principal Analyst for Talent Management, shows that 84% of organizations are experiencing, or expect to have, a shortage of qualified leaders. The study also shows a lack of quality leadership, with 50% saying their leaders are not leading effectively today and 71% saying they are not prepared for the future. Only 25% of organizations reported they have a ready and willing successor for at least one critical leadership positon.

The research, including a global survey distributed in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing and supplemented with qualitative interviews of executives conducted over the past three months, issues four “critical calls to action,” which include:

·      Recognizing that current leadership development efforts do not reflect workforce demographics
·      Prioritize accelerated development of Millennials
·      Developing a highly immersive learning experience to leader development
·      Enabling a heightened ability to forecast future leadership requirements

“An underlying cause of poor performance in leadership development practices is that many companies – even after years of focused improvement efforts -- still treat LD as a collection of sporadic training programs typically confined to just a few select leader levels,” Loew said.

“They fail to offer targeted and integrated development to leaders at all levels, particularly accelerated development for Millennial leaders. They ignore the learning  preferences of the digital natives who are the future leaders, ignore the experience-building component of development, and neglect to place leaders into positions to grow requisite functional and regional experience,” Loew said.

To address the problems, Brandon Hall Group unveils new practices to drive excellence, a revised framework, and a business impact model that defines four levels of development and identifies the enhanced business performance yielded at the highest level.

“This research report epitomizes Brandon Hall Group’s vision of practical, actionable research that not only provides compelling data but shows organizations how to use it to improve strategies, systems and processes that improve business performance,” said Brandon Hall Group CEO Mike Cooke.
