DAC Gallery Presents: Mis Propios Espacios / My Own Spaces

LOS ANGELES - Aug. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- The effects of labor (both domestic and industrial) and transnationalism affect us all in profoundly and surprisingly discreet ways. Mis Propios Espacios approaches these issues by presenting viewers with stories shared by a small group of migrant women working with Para Los Niños, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization. The stories shared by this group of mothers, daughters, and sisters provide an entry point into these complex social issues, highlighting the human dimensionality at stake in regard to labor and the forming of identities and communities linked between borders.

The exhibition will also feature works by a number of artists represented and mentored by the Art Centers, a program of the Exceptional Children’s Foundation. The works presented by ECF will also address issues of community and labor, as seen through the lens of a uniquely abled group of artists.

Additionally, the exhibition will feature prints by Self Help Graphics, a pre-eminent center for Latino printmaking established in Los Angeles since 1973.

An opening reception will take place during the September Downtown Art Walk on Thursday, September 10, from 6 to 9 PM. The exhibition will be on view at DAC Gallery from September 10th to October 29, 2015.
