Oregon Teen in Foster Care Finds a Home with Central Texas Family

17-year old Crystalanne Olski who had bounced from over 20 foster homes since she was 11 was adopted by Kimberly Dandy and Lori Olski of Hewitt.

Aug. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- “The foster parents didn’t like me so they wouldn’t feed me or they would get mad.  No one wanted me,” Crystalanne Olski said of her time in foster care.  Roughly 20,000 teens age out of foster care each year, leaving them with few options.  Rarely does this include college; more often than not they wind up in homeless shelters.

“The effort to place them within families that want to adopt them goes down as they get older and older and it’s assumed that they will just age out”, alleged Austin family law attorney Karen Langsley.

Kimberly and Lori, however, were out to adopt a teenager.  “I kept hearing about teenagers aging out of care and being dropped off at homeless shelters.  Unacceptable.  I knew something had to be done and it starts with me; it starts with whoever,” Gandy reported.  The couple were able to find Crystalanne through Adopt US Kids.

On June 2, Crystalanne was official adopted.  “I’m so excited,” she remarked, “I feel exuberant.”
