Earlier this summer, Nashville barely dodged a bullet when the Nashville Predators were eliminated from the NHL Playoffs. The City's Hotel industry was already seeing a large strain due to CMA week and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, as well as other events simultaneously taking place. The visiting team playing the Nashville Venom, on June 12th, could not find lodging in Nashville. The team had to find lodging in Cookville, TN. Now if the Predators would of advanced to the second round of the NHL Playoffs, this would have caused a serious problem. With all Nashville hotels booked, the NHL would have not been able to get rooms for their officials, visiting team, or fans visiting our city. We also will see the @016 All Star Game coming to Nashville. Will we see an improved lodging infrastructure by then? Next summer we will probably be facing the same issue, but with the Preds advancing to the second round. If both Shea Weber and Mike Fisher remain healthy through the end of the season, this should be a real issue. I have made contact with campaign headquarters for both Freeman and Barry, to ask the important question of how they would address this issue that faces Nashville Professional Sports and its fans. We will update you if we receive any response from either candidate. Make sure you go out and vote, Nashville sports depends on it. End
