Smyrna's Ikenna Okeke, put on a show with four catches for 84 yards. One can see why Notre Dame, Penn State, Stanford, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee have all expressed interest in Okeke. He definitely did his share of work, including a key reception to set up a Bulldog touchdown. On La Vergne's first possession of the game, Bulldog running back Casey Perkins recorded a safety after Nick Jones fell on his fumble in the end zone. In another La Vergne possession in the first half, Jones found redemption, after busting up the middle like a runaway train, 71 yards to score a touchdown. Smyrna led 16-7 at halftime with all scoring coming in the first quarter.QB Keianthony Conner’s 1-yard touchdown run made it 16-13 with 8:43 left in the third quarter. The extra point attempt was blocked by the Bulldog Defense. Smyrna's defense really showed up in the fourth quarter, stopping three La Vergne fourth-quarter drives. Devin Smith made the key play to stop LaVergne running back Nick Jones from returning to the end zone. On the final Wolverine drive, Ian Cleveland put the final nail in coffin with an interception. Smyrna hung on for a well deserved 16-13 win. La Vergne RB Nick Jones had impressive game, carrying the ball 28 times for 217 yards, with a 71-yard TD. Dr Pepper Player of the Game went to Bulldog running back Casey Perkins. He had a pair touchdowns runs with 17 carries for 136 yards and a safety.
