LONDON - June 17, 2015 - PRLog -- The Ministry of Defence has recently announced they are investing £80 million in new specialist equipment to help train the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy helicopter pilots and rear crews of the future*.

Minister of State for Defence Procurement Philip Dunne stated: “Over the last year, we are very proud to have delivered a number of new helicopter capabilities to our Armed Forces, and we plan to invest a further £11 billion over the next decade to sustain and further improve our fleet.”

Air Vice-Marshal Julian Young, Director Helicopters at the MOD’s Defence Equipment and Support organisation, said: “Simulation is a solution that, when blended with live flying events, provides the optimum individual and team-level training.

Highlights for Military Flight Training 2015 Include:

Presentation on day 1 by Colonel Joseph William DeMarco, Commandant at Air Command and Staff College, US Air Force on ‘Pilot transformation: tactical expert to operational master’.

He’s talk will look at topics such as; we train stellar pilots, but how do we educate them to become operational masters and eventually strategic decision makers?; education is key: agile, anticipatory leaders who can make bold audacious operational level decisions; educating today’s leaders to solve tomorrow’s problems and advancing airpower thought and theory one leader at a time…

Presentation on day 2 by Major General Tom Henry Knutsen, Former Commandant of the Norwegian Defence University College and the RNoAF Academy, Royal Norwegian Air Force (ret) on ‘NATO air and space power- the future vector project’.

He will look at; the air and space power paradox; the future strategic environment; consequences for future air warfare and how to build NATO’s air and space power for the future…
