Saints, Redskins, 49ers, Professional Ballers and Artists join Team Morgan for a Day of Service

WASHINGTON - June 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Saturday, June 20th is Recognized by the District of Columbia City Council as Joshua L. Morgan Day; In honor of this date and his birthday, Josh Morgan has put his efforts toward an All Star charity basketball game to benefit DC Public Schools and his alma mater H.D. Woodson Senior High School Athletic Department.  The celebrity all-star basketball game will not only bring together national and local DC celebrities, at-risk youth from DC area schools; moreover, it will allow all DC metro area students (from all backgrounds) a chance to meet some of their hometown and other heroes.  Morgan and his volunteers have teamed with the East River Family Strengthening Collaborative and Ward 7 Councilmember Yvette M. Alexander.  They designed this event to cater to the children in the area he grew up in; in an effort to encourage students to give back to their community.  Morgan hopes to empower this cycle of compassion among all DC metro area kids and show them the impact they can make themselves.

This fun-filled all-star game and community day will feature other giving professional athletes various other artists, and five (5) high school all-star basketball players selected from the OCASE Foundation One City All Star game held March 2015; as well as; live broadcasts from local area media outlets during.  Net proceeds from game will go toward DCPS Athletic Department(s).   H.D. Woodson Senior High School is located at 5540 55th St. N.E. Washington, DC the Doors Open at 1pm; Game begins at 2pm.

Block party immediately follows the game and  will include sponsors such as Aspire Beverages (Baltimore); who will not only provide sports drinks to game and Block party attendees there will be an opportunity for students 16 and over to join the “A-team” a program which employs kids at a rate of $10 - $15 per hour.

Parents are encouraged to be on hand for this fun filled day. Free Rita’s Ice (for children) and Live Entertainment delivered by such local acts as 4EY “the Future”, Main Girl, Pinky Killacorn, Reesa Renee, Lightshow, ATB, On-Air Radio Personalities WKYS 93.9 DJ Flava, WPGC 95.5 Joe Clair from the “Joe Clair Morning Show and Tony Redz aka “Mr.24/7” and National recording artist Maybach Music Groups Fat Trel and more.  The annual charity event is supported by several local businesses and non-profit organizations to include: The Cloud Brand, CORE Clothing, Capitol Public Relations, UNCF, OCASE, and DCs Department of Housing Single Father Initiative.  Game will be held on Saturday, June 20th Doors Open at 1pm game begins at 4pm
