First Ever Sanctioned MMA Event To Be Held At Metrapark
Fusion Fight League will host event on Friday, May 15th, 2015
Fusion Fight League has been putting on shows in the northwest since 2009, and this will be their 3rd MMA-only show at MetraPark. This event will have 6 female fights including Fusion’s first ever WMMA professional bouts. The main event featuring WMMA legend Tera LaRosa, former number one ranked female fighter in the world. With a professional record of 25-5, LaRosa recently fought on UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter and still currently fights for Invicta. She will be taking on the scrappiest female fighter in the northwest, Portland Oregon’s Katie Howard. The Pro Co-main event will feature fighter Celine Haga from New Mexico taking on Kyra Batara from Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Bringing an independent sanctioning organization is our way of doing everything possible to ensure the legitimacy and credibility for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in Montana. It is our hope that other MMA organizations in Montana will follow suit.”
-CEO, Terrill Bracken
The State of Montana has no interest to sanction MMA promotions. It is a common practice for fighters to be suspended from fighting in their home states if they take a fight in an unsanctioned state. Fusion bringing in an independent sanctioning body not only ensures the highest safety standards are followed, but allow the fighters to be officially recognized for their fights that occur here. This is a huge undertaking, but a big win for fighters across the nation who want to be seen by Montana’s fans.
“It’s an honor to be part of this historical show! Fusion is doing a great job of breaking new ground in the state of Montana, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
-Fighter, Tara LaRosa
“We are a neutral sanctioning body that supports all Mixed Martial Arts promotional organizations. Over 15,000 fans attend and 300 individuals compete in Montana each year, and we are simply trying to protect fighters and create uniformity. We will oversee weigh-ins and witness the entire event at cage-side to assure bout fairness and that all rules and regulations are followed for the safety of all fighters.”
-Commissioner, Jeff Hoiby
