It is expensive and without treatment, people with Lyme will die a slow, excruciating death,” says author, speaker and 10-year Lyme survivor, Lisa Reneé Williams Williams teamed up with Darla Allgood of Home Party Divas to bring charity events to Coloradans who suffer with Lyme. “After learning of Avril Lavinge’s story, Lisa and I knew we had to do something here at home in regards to Lyme disease,” said Allgood. She continued: “People go outdoors all the time and don’t give tick repellant a second thought. If they just knew they could save their lives by simply using repellent, it would prevent so much suffering. That’s why we’re doing this. We aren’t getting rich; we don’t keep the funds. We give them away to Lyme patients who need financial help. This event will be helping save lives. Denver is known for being a community that helps one another and we know we can count on her citizens to make a difference once again.” FUNDRAISER INFORMATION: FASHION IN THE LYME LIGHT CHARITY FASHION SHOW Bringing Hope and Help to those with Lyme disease May 2, 2015 10am-2pm Knights of Columbus Hall 1555 Grant Street Denver, Colorado Fashion Show from 2-3pm *Mother’s Day shopping available with many local artisans and vendors* About Lisa Reneé Williams: Lisa Renee Williams, author of The Sister Song, A Story Book for Grown Up Sisters and Cadence, Reflections of an Unlikely Warrior was in the throes of death in July of 2005. The reason? A simple tick bite that went unchecked and turned her world upside down. “Both of my sons had just gone to war,” stated Williams. “They were both in Infantry and battling on the very front lines. Just when they were fighting for their lives overseas, I was told I might not make it through the year here in Colorado. I decided that I would fight no less hard for my victory than they were for theirs.” Against all odds, Williams has made it ten years past her initial diagnosis and now serves as an advocate to raise awareness and funds for others engaged in the same battle.
