The Whig party of Georgia submitted the required political party registration to the Georgia Secretary of State in 2014. Mr. White will be the first Whig Party of Georgia member to run in any election in Georgia in 163 years. The last time the Whig Party was officially recognized in Georgia was 1853. Out of the first 12 Governors of Georgia 10 were Early Whigs. Whig Governors include: Archibald Bulloch, Button Gwinnett, John A. Treutlen and in 1843 George W. Crawford. The men who formed the Whig party, led by Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams, drew on a Jefferson tradition of compromise and balance in government, national unity and domestic manufacturing. Mr. White is running on a platform of open government and keeping the community aware of all activities of their elected officials. “I will be pressing for a local access cable channel showing city council meetings and council meeting minutes available online” Mr. White stated: “I believe in being fiscally conservative in all expenditures and not using taxpayer money for social endeavors.” End
