| Cellist Ravenna Helson Returns to Beatitudes February 4This is the fifth year that “The Beatitudes: Living Christ’s Call in the Maze of Daily Life” has been offered by the School Sisters of St. Francis Music Ministry on the first Wednesday of each month. Using the ecumenical prayer style of the brothers of Taize, France, there are readings, songs, time for silent reflection, and prayers of intercession and adoration beginning at 6 p.m. This is followed at approximately 6:45 p.m. by the concert portion, which extends the prayer, leading listeners more deeply into the joy, simplicity, mercy and hope of Christian life. All are invited to be part of this uplifting and beautiful expression of prayer and praise. A graduate of the Juilliard School and Yale University, Ravenna has performed throughout Europe, Japan, at the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica Music Festival, and at many U.S. festivals. Currently, she is principal cello of the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, and performs solo and chamber recitals as a member of Practically Baroque and The Comic Intermezzo. As baroque cellist, she has also performed with Santa Fe Pro Musica, St. Louis Baroque, Bloomington Early Music and Green Lake Festivals, and Northwestern University’s Dunbarton Early Music series. She teaches chamber music in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra's Davidson Chamber Music program and is cello instructor for their Progressions program. Convenient free parking is available in the St. Joseph Center parking lot at 29th St. and Orchard St. For more details, visit our website www.sssf.org, or call Sister Mary Jane Wagner, Director of Music Ministry, at 414-385-5246.
