ParetoLogic invests in Change Heroes to help children gain access to basic education

Through Change Heroes and its partnership with Free the Children, ParetoLogic has built schools in Kenya, India and Haiti. Fundraising efforts have included silent auctions, bake sales, raffles, game nights, in-house creative team competitions, video-based Change Heroes campaigns, and more.

The new schools have had a tremendous impact in the community. Marialapa Primary in Haiti was the first national public Free the Children school in Haiti and served as a model for future partnership. The school has expanded and has grown from 12 students at the start to more than 300. Students have set local records for academic performance.

The impact of having the school in the community been shown in ways that go beyond reading, writing and arithmetic. When the school was built, one goat was given. That goat was bred and now the school has more than 10 goats and the herd has become the centerpiece of an alternative income project. Members of the community are loaned a goat to start their own herd. When the family’s first litter is grown, one goat from that litter is given to the school. This project teaches skills in business and animal husbandry.

“It is really gratifying to see the positive effect the school has had on the community,” Pereira said. “Investing in Change Heroes allows us to provide the necessary support to ensure these projects continue for a very long time."

The strategy behind Change Heroes is for as little as a coffee a day you can make a difference. Bring 33 friends together to give $3.33 a day for 3 months, which is approximately $10,000 - enough to build a school house in a developing nation.
