Savers Thrift Store Honored as 2014 Difference-Makers for Easter Seals Wisconsin

 
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Oct. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- MADISON, WI--- The 2014 Easter Seals Wisconsin “Difference-Makers” were honored Tuesday evening at a Recognition Dinner in Madison. These individuals, groups and businesses have inspired others and made outstanding contributions to the disability community statewide and to Easter Seals Wisconsin throughout the years. The Easter Seals Wisconsin Recognition Dinner has been taking place since 1988, honoring supporters for all that they have done for the organization and for people with disabilities in Wisconsin.

Savers Thrift Stores was the recipient of the Outstanding Partner Award. Savers was founded by Bill Ellison in 1954 on principles such as giving back and providing opportunities, core values they still embrace today. Across the country, Savers partners with more than 140 different non-profit organizations and, in Wisconsin, they have chosen to partner with Easter Seals Wisconsin.  That partnership, which began in 1997, has raised over 2 million dollarsto provide direct services to children and adults with disabilities in Wisconsin.

Using this unique business model, Savers’ has not just given back to the communities in which their stores are located, but have helped recycle household items and clothing year after year. Their commitment to recycling these goods, keeps 600 million pounds of unsold merchandise from ending up in landfills each year.

There are three Savers Thrift Stores in the state of Wisconsin, all benefiting Easter Seals Wisconsin and the programs that they provide for people with disabilities. The stores are located at 2833 Mall Drive in Eau Claire and two locations in Madison at 7333 W Towne Way and 2002 Zeier Road
