AUBURN, Ind. - Sept. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- On September 6, Millwright Local 1076 and Carpenters Local 232 of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) donated time and skills to build a wheelchair ramp for a fellow Local 1076 brother.

Steve Erexson of Millwright Local 1076 was paralyzed from the waist down after a recent neck surgery. Although his goal is to walk again, he is currently refined to a wheelchair and needs a ramp to access his home. Seven members from Locals 232 and 1076 volunteered to construct the wheelchair ramp for Erexson.

Loechner Millwright Service, Erexson’s place of employment prior to his surgery, donated all of the materials necessary to build the ramp, and the Carpenters and Millwrights donated the labor.

“I believe that this project goes to show that not only are we willing to take care of our own, but that the relationships with our contractors go beyond the day-to-day job and that they truly value their employees,” said Shane Harris, IKORCC Millwright Representative.

“I just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved in putting in the ramp at my house,” said Erexson. “Thank you to Loechner Millwright Services for donating all of the materials and thank you to all of the Union Carpenters and Millwrights for taking some time from their weekend to construct it. Union Pride! Thank you Brothers!”

“This is what our organization is about - helping others,” said Will Klein, IKORCC Representative. “And what makes this time extra special is that we’re helping one of our own in his time of need.”
