LONDON - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Self-Publish or Traditional Route?

When questioned as to why he had chosen the self-publishing route, Jonathan replied, ‘Most authors average about 28p for every book they sell using the conventional route of agent and publisher. That book may be retailing for £5.99, or more, in the high street. Using a typical online platform, the royalties can be set at 70%, meaning you can offer the novel at a fraction of the conventional price and still earn more in royalty payments per sale. In addition, the time lag between finishing a work and going to print the conventional way is around eighteen months. Who wants to wait that long? And who can afford too?’

Triangle is an adult thriller, but the novel was originally aimed at the 18-30 bracket. ‘Initially, I wanted to brand it as ‘New Adult’, however the whole 18-30 genre of ‘New Adult’ seems to have become symptomatic of erotic writing. Triangle focusses on current themes such as drug dependency and homelessness, abduction and people trafficking. It incorporates raw emotions and internal conflicts, but it does not dwell on the physical side of any particular relationship. From the preview readings it appears that the novel has also appealed to a lot of older women, so I really hope that Triangle may appeal to a range of audiences.’

Punchy Writing

The story delivers in a punchy, modern style that lends heavily from the scripts that abounded in the house when Jonathan was growing up. ‘I was brought up in a house awash with television scripts as my father was Production Manager on The Bill,’ Jonathan explained. ‘In total, he worked on the programme for eighteen years. The scripts I read in my adolescence have had a big influence on my style of writing, along with the voluntary work I have done with the homeless and at a methadone clinic.’

Triangle is out this September and will be available for download from Amazon, via their Kindle application. More about the polt may be found here: http://jonathancotty.wordpress.com/2014/09/01/triangle-what-is-it-about/
